On September 8 we published a post about Salisbury’s First Selectman Curtis Rand objecting to opening their meetings with the Pledge of Allegiance.
On September 11 our video was shut down by YouTube due to a complaint filed by Tri-State Public Communications claiming that we had infringed the copyright they claim to have of the public meeting video from which the clip was taken.
After some research we filed a counter notification with YouTube contesting Tri-States’ copyright privilege of a public meeting. We also noted that under the ‘Fair Use Doctrine’ our use of the clip was valid even if they did actually possess a legal copyright, which we still contend they do not.
We just received notice that this video has been restored and the resulting copyright strike has been removed from our account.
Once again we present Salisbury First Selectman Curtis Rand as he indicates that he might not be able to support saying the Pledge of Allegiance. (This clip is from the meeting of September 6, 2012)
